Our Direct Service Programs
Our Primary Program, provides a "home away from home" for families of critically ill or injured children receiving care at nearby hospitals. In addition, we schedule an array of events and programming for adults, children and the whole family together while staying in the house. Events include pet therapy, movie nights, special guest visits, family photos as well as arrangements with businesses all over Augusta.
Serves at least 16,790 meals annually (we have an average of 46 people in the house per day, 1 meal per day). Healthy menus are provided and volunteer groups cook meals every day. A food pantry provides families with healthy food, including dairy, fruit & produce for multiple nutritional options during their stay.
Ensures that no family is ever turned away because the house is full. Transportation is available to families so they can spend time together and away from treatment.
Helps families who wait for hours without leaving the hospital or their child's bedside. The "Happy Wheels" hospitality cart travels the hospital hallways, bringing parents and children books, activities, and toys.
Provides welcome baskets, meal coupons, recreational and entertainment opportunities from generous Augusta businesses for Ronald McDonald House families.
We provide two special places for the children to play in our house. Our main playroom has toys for children of all ages, including everything from a play kitchen to air hockey to video games. A second playroom is available for children with suppressed immune systems which makes sure that every child can have play time when they need it the most. A special toy closet also gives the kids a smile on a day when treatment may be especially rough.
